15 young journos to represent PH in Japan’s youth exchange program
JENESYS is a youth exchange program made possible by the Japanese Government, Japan International Cooperation Center (JICE) in partnership with National Youth Commission of the Philippines (NYC).
The program aims to create a mutual understanding and trust among the people of Japan and the Asia Pacific region and encourage an understanding and dissemination of Japan’s economy, society, history, diverse culture, politics, and diplomatic relations.
A pre-departure briefing is scheduled by the NYC on Monday, November 26 to orient the delegates on Japanese culture as well as protocols and the itinerary for the duration of the program.
The youth ambassadors are set to discover and experience Japan’s rich culture, traditions and technological advancements. They will be introduced to “Cool Japan”, a harmonious co-existing of Japan’s present and past represented by ultra-modern business facilities, well-preserved cultural and historical architecture, animation and pop-culture.
A courtesy call on the local government is also scheduled to immerse the participants about the current situation of prefecture and municipalities in various perspectives such as local politics, education, and social welfare among others.
A deeper understanding on the life and sense of values of the Japanese people will also be experienced firsthand by the delegates through the Home Stay program. This part of the immersion will encourage the participants to value relationships and nurture mutual trust.
The delegates are encouraged to share their experience on their social media accounts at least once a day as their way of introducing Japan to their friends and families in the Philippines.
